By Daine Jackson, Senior Warden, Redeemer, Asheville
On Sunday, May 14, the congregation of Redeemer, Asheville observed Rogation Sunday with an opening procession to our beautiful courtyard with prayers led by The Rev. Stephen Weissman. The Rev. Dr. Robert Reese officiated during the Eucharist inside the historic rock church, which was built in 1888.
These two priests have had a special significance to Redeemer during the last 18 months. Father Weissman was our supply priest for over a year during our search for a priest. Father Bob is that priest! He has been with us since March, and we are already seeing the joyous results of his leadership. His wife, The Rev. Deacon Jeannette Reese, has shared her talent with us in many ways.
After this very special service, the men of the church hosted a Mother’s Day luncheon. The women were served casseroles, biscuits with gravy, and other courses, and all women were presented with flowers. All and all, it was a spectacular day of worship and fellowship.
