Renovations in Boojum's Cave at Camp Henry are underway, with some exciting changes planned for the space. Boojum is the central hangout space for Camp Henry, where campers can gather for fellowship over snacks, games, and cozy seating. Located under the Celebration Hall, Boojum's Cave has long been an essential piece of the summer camp experience for our youth.
Pool tables, board games, a kitchen area, and bathrooms have made the area a perfect spot for recreation, but flooding concerns and the need for a design refresh made this year's off-season the perfect time for updates. Renovations are expected to be completed before Camp Henry's first session this summer.
The space will get new floors, fresh paint and drywall, an expanded women's bathroom with multiple stalls, and more options for indoor recreation. An anonymous donor gifted funds for the bones of the renovation in honor of the former bishop of the Diocese of Western North Carolina, the Rt. Rev. Bob Johnson.
Money is still needed for new furniture and to expand the selection of games and activities. Please donate as soon as possible to help complete the space in time for the campers' arrival on June 11, 2023.
